During use, products are exposed to a wide variety of environmental influences, which can lead to damage to the corrosion protection and, in the worst case, to the base material of a component. Standardised environmental simulations are carried out in the laboratory to test these protective systems, in order to replicate as realistically as possible the conditions that will actually cause damage later on.
