The indentation test is used to assess a coating’s resistance to cracking or delamination from a metallic substrate that is progressively deformed by indentation. In this test, a hemispherical indenter is pressed against the test specimen until a crack forms, the coating detaches from the metallic substrate, or the required depth of deformation is reached.
