If damage or defects have occurred and the contracting parties cannot agree on who is responsible, a dispute in court is inevitable. In such cases, the claimant asks the court to take up the matter and to resolve the disputed issues by means of a judgement. As the judge, being a layperson, also requires specialist knowledge in technical matters, they can call upon specially trained experts, known as publicly appointed and sworn experts (ö.b.u.v.). The appropriate expert for a specific field can be found in specialised databases maintained by the Chambers of Skilled Trades or the Chambers of Industry and Commerce.
