The rub fastness test is used to determine the colour fastness of a surface when rubbed with a cotton fabric. In this test, a cylindrical test stamp fitted with the (dry or wet) rubbing fabric is moved across the surface of the specimen for a specified number of double strokes under a defined applied force. Subsequently, both the area subjected to the test and the cotton fabric used are assessed for visual changes using the grey scale.
