The magnetic-inductive method is a technique for non-destructive film thickness measurement, whereby the thickness of magnetically neutral films on a magnetic substrate (e.g. steel) can be determined.
The so-called eddy-current method is used to measure the thickness of non-conductive layers on non-magnetic metal substrates (e.g. aluminium).
