Accelerated weathering test (artificial weathering using xenon arc lamps) in accordance with DIN EN ISO 16474-2 and DIN EN ISO 4892-2

Accelerated weathering tests are a form of artificial weathering. In these tests, the degradation of the surface of plastics or coatings is assessed using filtered xenon arc radiation in combination with cyclic spraying with deionised water. This method, also known as a ‘sun test’, is used to determine the weather resistance of coating materials for external use and (with the appropriate filters) for internal use.
