The stamp pull-off test is a method of quantitatively assessing the adhesive strength of a single- or multi-layer system. In Method B, which is particularly suitable for rigid structures, a standardised aluminium stamp is bonded to the surface and, once the adhesive has cured, is mechanically torn away from the specimen. The force required to do so is measured and normalised to the surface area under test. The result is a tensile stress value, as well as a fracture pattern which can indicate whether the fracture occurred between two layers (adhesion) or within a single layer (cohesion).
