The mortar test is a durability test to assess the resistance of organic coatings to mortar. As mortar is alkaline, it is necessary to check whether it causes damage to the paint film. To do this, a standardised mortar is prepared and applied to the surface. After 24 hours’ curing under specified conditions, the treated area is cleaned and inspected. The test is mainly used in building and façade construction.
